EXAM

IELTS

IELTS, or the International English Language Testing System, is a test that assesses an individual’s proficiency in the English language. It is designed to evaluate an individual’s ability to understand and use the language in a variety of settings, including academic, professional, and everyday contexts.

The test is divided into four sections: listening, reading, writing, and speaking. The listening and reading sections assess an individual’s ability to understand spoken and written English, respectively. The writing section evaluates an individual’s ability to express themselves in writing, while the speaking section assesses an individual’s ability to communicate verbally.

The IELTS test is available in two formats: the Academic version and the General Training version. The Academic version is intended for those who plan to study at the undergraduate or postgraduate level, while the General Training version is intended for those who plan to work, study at a lower level, or migrate to an English-speaking country.

IELTS results are reported on a 9-band scale, with scores ranging from 0 (non-user) to 9 (expert user). The test results are valid for 2 years.

To study in Australia, you generally have to pass and attain certain points in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) test – a test that certifies a level of proficiency in the language. As per the Australian Department of Home Affairs (DHA), the result would also allow the student to avail a Student Visa to study further in Australia.

IELTS is accepted by over 10,000 organizations worldwide, including universities, employers, professional associations, and government agencies. It is the most widely recognized English language test for study, work and migration purposes, with over 3 million tests taken each year.

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO PASS YOUR IELTS?

Having a good IELTS score can open up many opportunities for individuals,
such as the ability to study at a higher level, secure a job in an English speaking country, or migrate to an English-speaking country.

Furthermore, for those who plan to study or work in an English-speaking country, the ability to communicate effectively in English is essential for success.

In summary, IELTS is important to pass because it can open up many opportunities and is often required by universities and employers as a measure of English language proficiency. WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO PASS YOUR IELTS?

IELTS is an internationally recognized English language proficiency test managed by the British Council, IDP, and the University of Cambridge. It is offered at various testing centers across Australia, including Charles Darwin University, CQ University Australia, the Institute of TAFE, Griffith University, Macquarie University, Monash University, and the University of Queensland, among others.

The test is divided into two versions, Academic or General, depending on the test-taker’s personal goals, whether it is for study, work or migration. Both versions are assessed on a 9-band scale, which evaluates the four skills of reading, writing, listening, and speaking. The score achieved in each skill determines the candidate’s competence level and their ability to perform tasks such as writing letters, reports, constructing complex written texts, and maintaining a speech or conversation.

IELTS Bookings and Fees in Australia

To prepare for the IELTS exam, one can attend classes at various accredited education providers located in different locations. Once the test-taker feels ready for the exam, they will need to choose a date and location for the test, and pay a booking fee to the selected testing center. The cost for the test is $355.

IELTS Exam Results

After taking the IELTS exam, test-takers can expect to receive their results in two weeks. If requested, a re-marking of the test can be done. The results will include a separate Band Score for each section of the test, which will be added together and averaged for an overall Band Score. Each band level has a statement describing the candidate’s level of English proficiency. There are nine band levels, ranging from one (non-user) to nine (expert user).

The minimum score required for admission to a course or program varies depending on the institution and program, with some requiring a score of 5.0 and others requiring a score of 7.5. The most common requirement is a band score of 6 to 6.5.

If a test-taker does not achieve the desired score, they can retake the test after a period of three months from the first test date. The IELTS test scoring is globally recognized and valid for 2 years, and measures the candidate’s ability to communicate effectively in an English-speaking environment.
