IELTS is an internationally recognized English language proficiency test managed by the British Council, IDP, and the University of Cambridge. It is offered at various testing centers across Australia, including Charles Darwin University, CQ University Australia, the Institute of TAFE, Griffith University, Macquarie University, Monash University, and the University of Queensland, among others.
The test is divided into two versions, Academic or General, depending on the test-taker’s personal goals, whether it is for study, work or migration. If a test-taker does not achieve the desired score, they can retake the test after a period of three months from the first test date. The IELTS test scoring is globally recognized and valid for 2 years, and measures the candidate’s ability to communicate effectively in an English-speaking environment.
Candidates are tested in Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking.
The test has different sections:
– The Listening Section – Duration : 30 minutes
– Academic reading/general training reading section – Duration : 60 minutes
– Academic writing/general training writing section – Duration : 60 minutes
– Speaking Section : Duration : 11 – 14 minutes
